Top Gun Restorations and Camouflage Finishes with Hydro Dipping

Today we bring you a round-up of some of the coolest guns we have worked on. As you can see, most of them are hunting shotguns.

This is a really nice kind of job, because over time wood, lacquers and plastics give way to the weather, the sun and humidity. Hydro dipping achieves two things: it restores the part to give it a brand-new look (including restoring the wooden or plastic parts if needed), and it gives it a textured finish with almost any effect you like (wood, camouflage, burl wood or carbon fibre).

We always ask which finish the customer wants, but for hunting we naturally recommend a matt effect, so that the shine of the gun does not scare off the game or catch its attention.

There are currently several types of camouflage on the market used for hunting, such as camouflage realtree, kryptek or ATACS, but they are not the only ones: MARPAT camouflages, in the style of the US Marine Corps and available in desert and woodland versions, or multicam, are also very popular choices.

A recently developed option is the Cabela camouflage. Unlike other hunting camouflages, it does not use a realistic print; instead it is a complex pattern made of patches, blurs and 3D effects, and our HCA-140 is a version of it. It offers a versatility that realtree patterns do not have, in exchange for slightly less concealment.
